Today saw all libraries in Bristol closed as a result of Bristol UNISON’s strike over unworkable shift patterns. There was a very good turnout of members at pickets across the city. Bedminster, Redland, Henleaze, Fishponds and Central were all picketed and we gave over 2000 leaflets to the public explaining why we’ve had to take industrial action.
Our members, reps, branch officers and regional officers all pulled together to deliver an absolutely solid strike. We had good support from many Labour Councillors. Now we need the council to listen to our concerns and respond positively. We meet with management again in early May and look forward to meaningful discussions.
