Why your attendance is important

UNISON is a democratic membership organisation.  Decisions about the direction of the branch are made at the AGM, which you can influence through attending and voting. This upholds democracy and accountability in our union. The meeting will take about an hour.

What will happen at the AGM?

All of your representatives need to be elected every year and this is an important part of the AGM.  There is no long term of office – each branch officer and work place rep must be nominated, seconded and elected every year.
The branch officers and reps are the activists that all members rely upon for support and advice in the workplace, but in turn, the reps need to be supported by the members.  You can show your support by attending and participating in the AGM. Motions will be debated at the AGM and all members can submit motions.  These can influence the national policy of the union. We will provide a light meal for attendees.

How you can get involved

Please attend the Bristol UNISON AGM and consider being a representative yourself. You can also nominate or second a colleague to be your rep using the nomination form. If you would like more information about the role of representatives please contact the branch.

Please contact the branch office if you require additional facilities or assistance. Members are also reminded that they are only eligible to attend one of the aggregate meetings.
